Ideology Of Mahatma Gandhi And Subhas Chandra History Essay
Belief system Of Mahatma Gandhi And Subhas Chandra History Essay In January 1915, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi came back to his country following two many years of home abroad. These years had been spent generally in South Africa, where he went as a legal counselor, and in time turned into a pioneer of the Indian people group in that domain. As the student of history Chandran Devanesan has commented, South Africa was the creation of the Mahatma. It was in South Africa that Mahatma Gandhi initially produced the unmistakable strategies of non㠢â⠬â violent fight known as Satyagraha, first advanced agreement among religions, and alarmed the methods of upper㠢â⠬â caste Indians to their biased treatment of low ranks and ladies. The India that Mahatma Gandhi saw when he returned 1915 was fairly not quite the same as the one that he had seen in 1893. Albeit still a province of the British, it was unquestionably progressively dynamic from a political perspective. The Indian National Congress currently had branches in most significant urban areas and towns. Through the Swadeshi development of 1905㠢â⠬â 07 it had extraordinarily expanded its intrigue among the white collar classes. That development had hurled some transcending pioneers among them Bal Gangadhar Tilak of Maharashtra, Bipin Chandra Pal of Bengal, and Lala Lajpat Rai of Punjab. The three were known as Lal, Bal and Pal, the similar sounding word usage passing on the allà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã India character of their battle, since their local regions were extremely far off from each other. Where these pioneers pushed aggressor restriction to pilgrim rule, there was a gathering of Moderates who favored an increasingly progressive and influential methodology. Among these Moderates were Gandhijis recognized political tutor, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, just as Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who, as Gandhiji, was an attorney of Gujarati extraction prepared in London. On Gokhales exhortation, Gandhiji went through a year going around British India, becoming acquainted with the l and and its kin. 1.1. The Making and Unmaking of Non㠢â⠬â cooperation Mahatma Gandhi went through a significant part of the year 1917 in Champaran, trying to acquire for the laborers the security of residency just as their preferred opportunity to develop the yields. The next year, 1918, Gandhiji was associated with two crusades in his home territory of Gujarat. In the first place, he interceded in a work contest in Ahmedabad, requesting better working conditions for the material plant laborers. At that point he joined laborers in Kheda in approaching the state for the reduction of charges following the disappointment of their reap. These activities in Champaran, Ahmedabad and Kheda checked Gandhiji out as a patriot with a profound compassion toward poor people. Simultaneously, these were totally confined battles. At that point, in 1919, the frontier rulers conveyed into Gandhijis lap an issue from which he could build an a lot more extensive development. During the Great War of 1914㠢â⠬â 18, the British had established restriction of the press and allowed detainment without preliminary. Presently, on the suggestion of an advisory group led by Sir Sidney Rowlatt, these extreme measures were proceeded. Accordingly, Gandhiji required a countrywide battle against the Rowlatt Act. In towns across North and West India, life ground to a halt, as shops shut down and schools shut because of the bandh call. The fights were especially extraordinary in the Punjab, where numerous men had served on the British side in the War hoping to be remunerated for their administration. Rather, they were kept on the Rowlatt Ac t and Gandhiji was captured while continuing to Punjab, even idea he was an unmistakable neighborhood Congressmen. The circumstance in the area developed logically increasingly tense, arriving at a bleeding peak in Amritsar in April 1919, when a British Brigadier requested his soldiers to start shooting at a patriot meeting. In excess of 400 individuals were slaughtered in what is known as the Jallianwala Bagh slaughter. It was the Rowlatt satyagraha that made Gandhiji a genuinely national pioneer. Encouraged by its prosperity, Gandhiji required a crusade of non㠢â⠬â cooperation with British standard. Indians who wished imperialism to end were approached to quit going to schools, universities and law courts, and not make good on charges. Altogether, they were solicited to hold fast to a renunciation from (all) intentional relationship with the (British) Government. In the event that non-participation was viably completed, commented Gandhiji, India would win swaraj inside a year. To widen the battle further, he had held hands with the Khilafat Movement that looked to reestablish the Caliphate, an image of Panà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã Islamism which had as of late been nullified by the Turkish ruler Kemal Attaturk. 1.2. Khilafat Movement Gandhiji trusted that by coupling non㠢â⠬â cooperation with Khilafat, Indias two significant strict networks, Hindus and Muslims, could all in all stop the pilgrim rule. These developments surely released a flood of well known activity that was out and out exceptional in pioneer India. Understudies quit going to schools and universities run by the administration. Legal advisors wouldn't go to court and the average workers took to the streets in numerous towns and urban communities. As per official figures, there were 396 strikes in 1921, including 600,000 specialists and lost 7,000,000 workdays. The wide open was fuming with discontent as well. Slope clans in northern Andhra disregarded the woodland laws. Ranchers in Awadh didn't make good on charges. Laborers in Kumaun wouldn't convey loads for pioneer authorities. These dissent developments were once in a while done in resistance of the nearby patriot authority. Laborers, laborers, and others deciphered and followed up on the call to non㠢â⠬â cooperate with provincial guideline in manners that most appropriate their inclinations, as opposed to comply with the directs set down from above. Non㠢â⠬â cooperation, composed Mahatma Gandhis American biographer Louis Fischer, turned into the name of an age in the life of India and of Gandhiji. Non㠢â⠬â cooperation was negative enough to be serene yet positive enough to be successful. It involved disavowal, renunciation, and self㠢â⠬â discipline. It was preparing for self㠢â⠬â rule. As a result of the Nonà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã Cooperation Movement the British Raj was shaken to its very establishments just because since the Revolt of 1857. 1.3. A Peoples Leader By 1922, Gandhiji had changed Indian patriotism, in this way reclaiming the guarantee he made in his BHU discourse of February 1916. It was not, at this point a development of experts and educated people; presently, countless laborers, laborers and craftsmans additionally took an interest in it. A significant number of them loved Gandhiji, alluding to him as their Mahatma. They valued the way that he dressed like them, lived like them, and communicated in their language. Not at all like different pioneers he didn't stand separated from the basic people, however sympathized even related to them. 1.4. The Salt Satyagraha For quite a while after the Non㠢â⠬â cooperation Movement finished, Mahatma Gandhi concentrated on his social change work. In 1928, in any case, he started to consider re㠢â⠬â entering legislative issues. That year there was an allà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã India battle contrary to the allà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã White Simon Commission, sent from England to enquire into conditions in the state. Gandhiji didn't himself take part in this development, however he gave his gifts, yet, he likewise played out a worker satyagraha in Bardoli around the same time. Toward the finish of December 1929, the Congress held its yearly meeting in the city of Lahore. The gathering was huge for two things: the appointment of Jawaharlal Nehru as President, connoting the death of the implement of administration to the more youthful age; and the decree of responsibility to Purna Swaraj, or complete freedom. Presently the pace of governmental issues got again. On 26 January 1930, Independence Day was watched, w ith the national banner being lifted in various settings, with energetic tunes being sung. Gandhiji himself gave exact directions with regards to how the day ought to be watched. It would be acceptable, he stated, if the affirmation [of Independence] is made by entire towns, entire urban communities even It would be well if all the gatherings were held at the indistinguishable moment in all the spots. 1.5. Dandi Not long after the recognition of this Independence Day, Mahatma Gandhi declared that he would lead a walk to break one of the most generally despised laws in British India, which gave the express an imposing business model in the production and offer of salt. His singling out the salt syndication was another representation of Gandhijis strategic insight. For in each Indian family unit, salt was basic; yet individuals were taboo from making salt in any event, for household use, convincing them to get it from shops at a significant expense. The state imposing business model over salt was profoundly disagreeable; by making it his objective, Gandhiji would have liked to activate a more extensive discontent contrary to British standard. Similarly as with Non㠢â⠬â cooperation, aside from the formally authorized patriot crusade, there were various different floods of dissent. Across enormous pieces of India, workers penetrated the loathed pilgrim woodland laws that kept them and their cows free and clear in which they had once meandered openly. In certain towns, assembly line laborers picketed while legal counselors boycotted British courts and understudies would not go to government㠢â⠬â run instructive establishments. As in 1920㠢â⠬â 22, Gandhijis new call had supported Indians of all classes to show their own discontent with the provincial standard. The rulers reacted by keeping the protesters. In the wake of the Salt March, about 60,000 Indians were captured, among them, obviously, Gandhiji himself. 1.6. Stop India Stop India was truly a mass development, bringing into its ambit a huge number of standard Indians. It particularly empowered the youthful who, in exceptionally enormous numbers, left their universities to go to prison. Be that as it may, while the Congress heads grieved in prison, Jinnah and his colle

TOEFL Integrated Writing Easter island
TOEFL Integrated Writing Easter island The ReadingEaster Island, located in the Pacific Ocean about 4000 miles from the coast of Chile, is one of the most isolated places in the world. It is best known for the Moai, monolithic statues of human figures carved from volcanic rock and located around the island. While today the Moai are a great source of revenue from tourists who flock to the island, research suggests that their construction actually led to the decline and eventual collapse of the islandâs culture. First of all, evidence suggests that the obsession which the people of Easter Island had with building the Moai led to non-productive use of natural resources, specifically of the islandâs forests. The Moai were huge, with some weighing nearly eighty tons. Moving them from the quarries where they were carved to their intended resting spots required the use of wooden tracks equipped with log rollers. The islanders cut down vast amounts of valuable trees for no other purpose that to move the statues across their i sland. Moai construction continued for centuries and eventually every single tree on the island was cut down to build the aforementioned tracks. This complete deforestation had disastrous effects on the island. Migratory birds, which had been a big part of the islanderâs diet stopped coming to Easter Island. Meanwhile, the fishing industry on the island collapsed because the leaves of the islandâs palm trees had been used to construct fishing boats. In addition, soil erosion caused by the lack of trees made it difficult to even grown food. Finally, the above issues lead to a major population decline. From a high of twenty thousand people at the peak of its civilization, only two thousand people remained when European explorers first reached Easter Island in the eighteenth century. This mass die-off was clearly a result of the food shortage described above. Human remains from the period suggest that the population descended into cannibalism as things got progressively worse over the years. The Lecture Most people are aware of the Moai of Easter Island, as thousands of tourists flock to see them every year. Fewer people know, however, about the people who built them and of the rise and fall of their civilization. The reading suggests that society on the island collapsed as a result of the construction of the Moai, but recent research suggests that this was not the case at all.The first issue suggested in the reading passage, that the islanders cut down their valuable forests to build tracks to move the Moai, is simply not true. More recent research suggests that the Moai were moved using a series of ropes. Teams consisting of dozens of men fastened ropes to either side of the Moai and, well, walked them to their places by tilting them from side to side as they walked forward. This method required no trees to be cut down and has actually been replicated by modern teams using actual Moai from the period.Further, the reading passage notes that the construction o f the Moai eventually led to the complete deforestation of the island. While it is true that the island was completely lacking trees by the time the first European explorers arrived, this was not the result of Moai construction. Recently, palm seeds have been excavated which date from the period when the island was heavily forested and all of them show signs of having been gnawed on by rats. Coincidentally, the first settlers on the island, who arrived by boat, brought rats with them as food. It has been theorized that over the years the rats had a deadly effect on the islandâs palm trees and THAT was the cause of the deforestation. Finally, the claim that the population of the island was in decline when Europeans arrived is also faulty. While the author suggests that the population peaked at twenty thousand, this figure is just an old guess based on the assumption that the island was first settled in 400 AD. Recent carbon dating indicates that the island was actually settled at ar ound 1200 AD. If this is the case, there simply would not have been time for a population of twenty thousand to be established. It is likely that the two thousand people encountered by European arrivals was the largest population that the island ever supported.

International Relations As A Discipline - 1688 Words
The world is in danger today due to the developments that have exhilarated politically, socially, and economically. The operation of international systems changed due to globalisation. As of Heywood (2 013), Liberalism is traced from Locke, the father of liberalism, portrayed as a meta-ideology. The distinctions in theories, as a start, are due to each being created situated on contrasting premises. John Steinbeck had accused wars stating that ââ¬Å"All war is a symptom of manââ¬â¢s failure as a thinking animalâ⬠. The statement simply proves that people are the reason behind wars or any conflicts happening in the state. Yet, theories have a different understanding and concept undertaken towards the world. Realists view that the world is anarchic where the environment is always hostile. Realists determined that power is the path for states towards security. Furthermore, realists try to prove that states only seek greater power to be safe. Realists wrap up their ideas with the thought that the main interest for states is survival in such an anarchic world. Constructivists assume that worldââ¬â¢s anarchy is reached depending on the social bonding between states. They also see the world as socially constructed (Wendt, 1992). We will write a custom essay sample on Pablo Picasso or any similar topic only for you Order Now Picasso was quick to express his desire for art. Picasso father began teaching him to draw and paint from early childhood, and by the time he was 13 years old his painting were already better than his fatherââ¬â¢s. He lost all desire to do any schoolwork and instead spent the school days doodling in his notebook. Other influence in his work was when his close friend Carols Cameras died. He felt lonely and deeply depressed over the death of his friend, he painted scenes of poverty, isolation and anguish using exclusively blues and greens. This was Picasso Blue Period ââ¬â 1901-1904. Picasso most famous work, Queering is certainly the his most powerful political statement, painted as an immediate reaction to the Naziââ¬â¢s devastating casual mobbing practice on the Basque town of Queering during Spanish Civil War. Queering was a unique painting for Picasso to create because he never wanted to be influenced by the outside world. Historians argue that Queering is the exception and Picasso allowed him-self to be influenced and expressed his views. Queering shows the tragedies of war and the suffering it inflicts upon individuals, particularly innocent civilians. This work has gained a monumental status, becoming a perpetual reminder of the tragedies of war, an anti-war symbol, and an embodiment of peace. On completion Queering was displayed around the world in a brief tour, becoming famous and widely acclaimed. This tour helped bring the Spanish Civil War to the worldââ¬â¢s attention. Queering is a town in the province of Biscayne in Basque Country. During the Spanish Civil War, it was regarded as the northern bastion of the Republican resistance movement and the epicenter of Basque culture, adding to its significance as a target. In 26 April 1937, warplanes of the German Condor Legion, commanded by Colonel Wolfram von Ricocheted, bombed Queering for about two hours. After the bombing, Picasso was made aware of what had gone on in his country of origin. The ability to hear affects almost every aspect of life, especially when one is young and trying to learn to read or do other academic tasks. The job of an American Sign Language interpreter, in regards to children and students is to assist in the learning process as well as the childs need and ability to communicate with the hearing world. In recent years there has been controversial debate as to the need for ASL and interpreters. A grassroots movement has begun to encourage other means of communication. The world of the deaf is currently divided into separate camps; those who consider themselves purists and want to continue with ASL and those who want it abolished because it sends a signal to the world that they are different. Software Engineering Project Failure Essays
Software Engineering Project Failure Essays Software Engineering Project Failure Paper Software Engineering Project Failure Paper This report is about software engineering project failures. In this report, I will first examine the importance of a good software engineering manager to a project. Then, I will identify major reasons for software engineering project fails within the software industry. At last, some suggestion about reducing project failure rates according to the knowledge and best practices will be provided. Manager is essential to software engineering project There are nine project management knowledge areas: integration, scope, time, cost, quality, risk, communication, procurement, and human resource management (see A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Project Management Inst. , 2000). Failing to address any of these areas will result in repeatedly diminishing a projectââ¬â¢s outcome. This stresses the importance of a good manager to a successful software engineering project. In Mohammadââ¬â¢s individual case, the reasons of the failure of the project were almost caused by the managerââ¬â¢s failing in good performance. (Rob, 2003) Then, what characteristics should a good manager has? First, he should be responsible and have a good leading ability to manage his team to work well together. Second, he should have strong communication ability which will help him to work well with his team as well as his clients. Third, the technique skill is very important with which he will have a broad view. Forth, he should have a critical mind which will make him have a strong problem solving ability. Reasons that cause software engineering project failures As software engineering project failures cannot be totally avoided, examining the reason why it happens help us to reduce failures. Lack of project study Project study is very important to any software engineering project, as it helps team members to have a clear understanding about the project. Without project study, team members may not know what they are doing. This could have bad effect on the project. There are five factors (TELOS) should be included in the project study, which are technical, economic, legal, operational, schedule (Keyes, 2008). And the primary performance objectives for the software deliverable should also be established. Lack of communication The communication both among a project team and between a team and the client is very important. Communication among a team not only makes team members to work better, but also helps senior management to get the information about the work so that senior management could make timely decision. Communication between a team and client help the team to get a better understanding about the clientââ¬â¢s requirement, thus their work is improved. Lack of communication will be a disaster of a team. They may not be well organized. Work finished by team members may not be fitted to each others. And the finished work may not fulfill clientââ¬â¢s requirement. Thus, software engineering project failure may happen. Using new or unfamiliar contractors: New contractors are not familiar with the projectââ¬â¢s personalities and systems design complexities. Changing contractor will cause this problem and is also a waste. So, choosing a good contractor who has an ongoing business relationship with a project group and avoid long-distance and out-of-country subcontracts which will make it difficult to form closer communication is very important. (Rob, 2003) Suggestion on reducing software engineering project failure 1. The manager should conduct a good project study within the team at the beginning of a project. Practitioners should establish the primary performance objectives for the software deliverable, as these will greatly drive the type of development model and mix of practices they should use (Maccormack, Kemerer, Cusumano amp; Crandall, 2003). 2. The manager should conduct enough, efficient and effective communication. Face-to-face meetings, discussions, temporal collocation, and exchange visits should be organized to figure out where they are and check if the work is going as expected (Smite amp; Wholin, 2011). . Avoid changing contractors, as new contractors are not familiar with the projectââ¬â¢s personalities and systems design complexities. Choose a contractor who has an ongoing business relationship with a project group and avoid long-distance and out-of-country subcontracts which will make it difficult to form closer communication (Rob, 2003). 4. Reliable infrastructure, including a centralized repository, common configuration management tools, and rich communication media should be invested in, which will help the team to work better (Smite amp; Wholin, 2011). . The manager should choose useful team members. A team member chosen by manager should have a strong ability to work and communicate with other team members. And also, he should be well educated and have good technique skills. 6. To achieve all the point above, a perfect manager is indispensable. So, a perfect is very essential to a software engineering project. Reference: Rob, M. Abbreviations for Common Business Degrees
Abbreviations for Common Business Degrees Business degree abbreviations sometimes vary from school to school, but most educational institutions use a standard format. The problem is that there are a lot of different abbreviations- so many that it can be hard to figure out what they all stand for. It can also be confusing when two business degree abbreviations are very similar, such as the EMS (Executive Master of Science)à and EMSM (Executive Master of Science in Management). Bachelor Degrees Bachelor degrees are undergraduate degrees. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree has more of a broad focus on liberal arts, while the Bachelor of Science (BS) has more of a tightly focused curriculum. The most common business-related bachelor degrees include: BA: Bachelor of ArtsBBA: Bachelor of Business Administrationà BPA: Bachelor of Public AdministrationBS: Bachelor of ScienceBSB: Bachelor of Science in BusinessBSBA: Bachelor of Science in Business AdministrationBSc CIS: Bachelor of Computer Information Systems ExecutiveDegrees In the business field, executive degree programs are commonly designed forà working business professionals who want to advance their knowledge in general business (business administration) or in a particular area of business such as public administration, management, or taxation. Ways of quitting smoking Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Ways of quitting smoking - Essay Example year because of smoking related illnesses and cigarettes contain at least 43 cancer-causing chemicals in addition to the poisonous carbon monoxide thatââ¬â¢s also inhaled. Every year approximately 46% of regular smokers attempt to quit, with only about 10% being successful in the short term1Research has shown that only 3-5% of smokers are successful using will power alone (Hughes et al, 2004) Smokers have an extremely difficult time to quit cigarettes because of the nicotine contained in the tobacco cigarettes. Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to man, and it acts directly on the pleasure centers of the brain by releasing dopamine which causes the individual to feel good, while also reducing anxiety, tension and appetite5.Regular use affects the brains reward system, so that when there is no nicotine, the dopamine levels will fall and withdrawal starts. The main withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation are: These nicotine withdrawal symptoms and not will power are the main reason smokers find it so difficult to quit. Although most symptoms subside within a few days to two weeks, the most troublesome one, the Cravings sometimes can last for years, and thatââ¬â¢s is the biggest hurdle. There are many alternatives available to help the smoker quit. The alternatives range from prescription drugs like Zyban (also an antidepressant) and Chantix which is supposed to target the nerve receptors from the effects of nicotine, to ââ¬Å"nicotine replacement therapyâ⬠products such as gum, patches or inhalers. Unfortunately these products have had little success in achieving permanent smoking cessation from its users. The other main reason for its lack of success lies directly in the fact that these products provide a very low dose of nicotine administered over a longer period of time ,which is totally opposite to the instant rush of nicotine a smoker feels within 7-10 seconds after inhaling a puff from a tobacco cigarette. So in simple terms,

Lion King vs Hamlet Essay -- essays papers
Lion King vs Hamlet The movie, The Lion King, and the book, Hamlet, both have a similar story line. In both stories, the king is killed and revenge is sought by the kingââ¬â¢s son. The murderers in the stories are the kingââ¬â¢s brothers who want the power of the throne. After the death of the Kings, both of the villains successfully took over the kingdoms. While these villains ruled, the kingdoms slowly deteriorated. Neither of the sons liked the villains, but they did not know at first that they had anything to do with their fatherââ¬â¢s death. It took an outside force to convince them that they must vow revenge for their fatherââ¬â¢s death. Both sons had the wit to approach revenge strategically. They wanted the villains to know that they knew about how their fathers were murdered. The leading roles in each of the stories had a corresponding role in the other. The corresponding characters shared a number of similarities, but it was the ways in which they were different that determined their fate and that of the kingdom. In Hamlet, the prince is Hamlet. He is in deep grieving of his fatherââ¬â¢s death. He is angry because he believes that everyone has already forgotten how great of a king his father was. Hamlet does not know for sure who is responsible for his fatherââ¬â¢s death, but he suspects Claudius who is his uncle and the new king. Hamlet decides that if he can convince everyone that he is insane, then maybe he will be able to get someone to tell him more about his fatherââ¬â¢s murder. In The Lion King, Simba is the prince. Simbaââ¬â¢s father, Mufasa, is killed after he falls from a cliff into a herd of hyenas. Simba falls into a deep depression after his uncle Scar twists things around and convinces Simba that he is the one responsible for th e Mufasaââ¬â¢s death. Simba can not deal with what has happened and he runs away from the kingdom. In Hamlet, The new king Claudius is able to gain respect from the kingdom. He even steals the love of Hamletââ¬â¢s mother Gertrude. The old kingââ¬â¢s councilor, Polonius, becomes Claudiusââ¬â¢s councilor and his best friend. He helps Claudius keep an eye on Hamlet and tries to keep him from finding out anything about his fatherââ¬â¢s death. Polonius believes that if he helps Claudius that he can make life better for himself and for his daughter and son. But in the end, his actions get him slayed, drive his daughter to insanity, and eventually set... ...f her son. She starts to feel the poison and she warns Hamlet of it before she dies. It is too late though, the poisonous sword had cut Hamlet. In anger, Hamlet steals the poisoned sword and runs it into Laertes. He then charges Claudius and runs it into him. He also takes the wine and forces Claudius to drink from it. Both Claudius and Laertes die before Hamlet. Hamlet regains his throne for a few seconds, until the poison sets in and takes his life. The Lion King has a happy ending. Simba returns to his kingdom and he finds Scar. He tells Scar that he knows about his fatherââ¬â¢s death. Scar lies to Simba by telling him that the Hyenas were the ones who killed Mufasa. This upsets the Hyenas. They leave Scar to fight Simba by himself. Simba wins the fight and throws Scar off a cliff, into the herd of the Hyenas. The hyenas show no remorse for Scar and they trample over him, killing him. Once Simba takes back the throne, the whole kingdom becomes beautiful again and everyone i s happy. The two stories had similar plots and characters. But in the end, the small differences in how the characters acted separated the tragedy of Hamlet from the happy ending of Disneyââ¬â¢s The Lion King. Is War Good or Bad Essay
The ongoing debate, is war good or bad? Usually if we see or hear the word ââ¬Å"warâ⬠we think about the negative sides first. There is a saying that a forest fire burns everything in its path and it does destroy the forest but out of the ashes comes new life. War is similar to this. Out of destruction comes a new beginning. A country can benefit from war, by gaining wealth or freedom, increasing in power, and advancing in technology. But the reason why war seems only negative is because there is also destruction where millions of innocent people die, losing their resources and time, and also their money. Not only within the country but the whole world could be affected by war economically and socially. There are plenty of reasons why war is a bad thing. One main thing that comes to us directly and painfully is the death of the loved ones. Wars may solve problems but in the process it kills millions of people so war is cruel. A good example is the WW2, almost 50-60 million people died. Also in a war, the country has to spend a lot of money. It needs to provide weapons like tanks missiles etc., and it needs as many troops as possible. As Chinese strategist Tzu Sun said, ââ¬Å"Where the army is, prices are high; when prices rise the wealth of the people is exhaustedâ⬠(Tzu Sun, c.400 BCE). For the citizens this is very disappointing because all this money would eventually come from raised taxes and instead this could be spent on poor and uneducated people. As I said, war brings destruction. Inflation is also a problem. For example after the Angolaââ¬â¢s Civil War, their currency was so useless that bottles of beer replaced it. Special landmarks, farms, and firms could be dest royed and the country could lose a lot of its resources. After the war, usually the country goes in a huge debt. On the other hand, war could be seen as a positive influence. Wars exist because people cannot agree on something. After the war it could be clear and they would agree and not fight anymore. Sometimes war could give freedom to a country. After war the country could become more powerful. If the war was because of land, after they win they have a bigger country with more resources. These resources could make the economy of the country rocket up. Also war in short-term is actually good for the economy. For example during the Great Depression, unemployment rate decreased. Since they need large amounts of weapons made quickly they hire more people and this leads to more jobs. Long-term wise a war could rebuild the economy of a country. Like the French, their production grew faster after WW1 and WW2. The country develops in technology too. They would need better more powerful strategies and weapons than the enemyââ¬â¢s so they research and develop in technology. Afterwards, this would b enefit the country greatly. Could this debate ever be over? I do not think so. As you can see, there are many bad and good sides of war. Overall I think wars are bad, because all these positive things are still not worth of millions of lives. And the good sides are if you win the war but that is not 100% sure. And even if things are resolved after the war, we are humans and we constantly want more. If the countries do not feel satisfied they might go into a second war and then a third and so on. So I think we should always find more peaceful ways than war.

Essay about Oppositional World Views Plato The Sophists
The Sophist views and beliefs originated in Ancient Greece around 400 B.C.E. The Sophists were known as wandering rhetoricians who gave speeches to those who could afford to listen. The Sophists deeply believed in the power of rhetoric and how it could improve oneââ¬â¢s life. Plato on the other hand was opposed to all Sophist beliefs. He viewed the Sophists as rhetorical manipulators who were only interested in how people could be persuaded that they learned the truth, regardless if it was in fact the truth. Plato basically opposed every view the Sophists held true and tried to disprove them throughout his many dialogues. The Sophists and Plato held two very contrasting views and this paper will attempt to sift through them all in hopes ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦There really can be no absolute truth then because the truth hinges solely on who presents a better argument. Just as the opposite of up is down, the opposite of right is wrong, and the opposite of good is evil, the opposite of the Sophists was Plato. Plato and his philosophies were also rooted in ancient Greece at the same time as the Sophists. Plato studied under Socrates, another famous ancient philosopher, and started the very first center for learning which he called the Academy. Plato was not what you would call a relativist though. He was exactly the opposite. He was opposed to all the beliefs of the Sophists, believing them to be only concerned with the manipulative aspects of how humans attain knowledge. He argued that they taught people how to persuade people into believing they heard the truth, even if it wasnââ¬â¢t in fact the truth. Plato believes that true rhetoric is where philosophers and their pupils become free from all worldly encumbrances and all conventional beliefs in the pursuit of a transcendent absolute truth. (Bizzell P. amp; Herzberg, B., 2001, pg. 29) Plato bel ieves that there is in fact absolute truth and contends that discourse is necessary to uncover it. He feels that false rhetoric is Sophist rhetoric and that with their vast knowledge of rhetoric, they should be using it to find absolute truth, not teaching people how to convince people thatShow MoreRelatedThe Athenian And Roman Empires7856 Words à |à 32 PagesRoman Oration Introduction By the first century BC, the Rome had become a Pan-Mediterranean Empire. Anders couldn t get to the bank until just before it closed, so of course the line was endless and he got stuck behind two women whose loud, stupid conversation put him in a murderous temper. He was never in the best of tempers anyway, Anders - a book critic known for the weary, elegant savagery with which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed. She looked at him with drowning eyes. The man with the shotgun pushed the guard to his knees. He handed up the shotgun to his partner and yanked the guard s wrists up behind his back and locked them together with a pair of handcuffs. He toppled him onto the floor with a kick between the shoulder blades. Then he took his shotgun back and went over to the security gate at the end of the counter. He was short and heavy and moved with peculiar slowness, even torpor. Buzz him in, his partner said. The man with the shotgun opened the gate and sauntered along the line of tellers, handing each of them a Hefty bag. When he came to the empty position he looked over at the man with the pistol, who said, Whose slot is that? Anders watched the teller. Urban Legend of Cry Baby Bridge Essay examples - 905 Words
Cry Baby Bridge When talking to students around campus about urban legends they knew, many of them were quick to recite a story that they once enjoyed hearing. Most people all knew at least a couple stories. Almost everyone knew some variation of the most popular urban legends. When talking in the dorm with a twenty year old female student, I learned that she knew several stories from her hometown. I found most interesting the story involving a bridge named Cry Baby Bridge. The story was specific to her home town. She had heard it in a similar situation as me, in the dorm atmosphere from one of her friends from her hometown. This is the story she told me, as close to verbatim as possible: One day back home several years ago aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Now, if you go when it is dark out you hear the baby crying and can see her wandering. Another variation took place in Westminster, MD (Schlossman). This story included both the father and the boyfriend. The father disapproved of her baby and she caught the boyfriend cheating. This ending has the women throwing the baby over and then her body being found hung on the bridge. The result is the same as the Crofton version because it is said that when it is dark out you can hear the baby crying and see her mother wandering. These variations show that the story can be passed from town to town as people verbally spread the legend. Whenever the story is told, the teller believes that this Cry Baby Bridge is located in their town. All of the stories involve a teenage girl having a baby, being rejected by her father and/or her boyfriend, and the woman being depressed and killing the baby and herself on the bridge. When looked at closely, this legend can also show us the fears of our society. Many common fears, mainly involving youth, are displayed in this story. All of the variations focus on teen pregnancy. This issue is a well known problem with youth today. The story shows the fear young women have about getting pregnant. Youth today, both men and women, are often scared about all of the consequences they can have from sex, such as pregnancy or STDs. With many young people today having sex, these problems seem to be aShow MoreRelatedOne Significant Change That Has Occurred in the World Between 1900 and 2005. The Attitude of The Employees Towards Job Satisfaction
Question: How The attitude of the employees towards job satisfaction and the motivation of the employees help the organization as well as the employees to succeed in the competitive market? Answer: The attitude of the employees towards job satisfaction and the motivation of the employees help the organization as well as the employees to succeed in the competitive market. it has been found that attitude has three components of attitude, Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral component. The types of attitudes are, job satisfaction, job involvement, organizational commitment, perceived organizational support and employee engagement. It is necessary for the managers to know the type of attitudes so that they have an idea about the type of attitudes and take further steps. The extrinsic employees rewards the employees through monetary products and the intrinsic motivation help the employees to get a sense of belonging among the employees. The limitation of job satisfaction is that the employees become in competitive, as they are satisfied with the current job. The limitation of intrinsic motivation is that it takes to get implanted in the organization. The negative thing about the extr insic motivation diverts the employees from the path as they start concentrating only on the rewards. As it can be seen that the advantage and disadvantages are part of the organization, hence, the managers should know the proper way to handle the employees. Introduction Motivation and job satisfactions are inter-related to each other (Ford 2014). Once the employees are motivated, they will work harder for the organization. The motivated employees will be happy in the organization and hence they will hold a positive attitude towards the organization and will be satisfied in the job (Card et al. 2012). Thus, it is important the manager of an organization know the ways of motivation and the path to job satisfaction. The attitude of the employees towards the organization tells about the degree of job satisfaction of the employees in the organization. However, it is important to know about the shortcomings of jobs satisfactions and the motivations (Collie, Shapka and Perry 2012). Hence, the managers should prepare themselves beforehand for any negative situation. Though job satisfaction are positive terms yet if they are not sued intelligently in the organization, then chances are high that the organization will have to suffer from loss rather than profi t (Edmans 2012). In addition to this, there are different motivational theories that the manager should know to manage the employees. They should be able decide which theory should be implemented in the organization so that the employees perform well at the workplace (Hlsheger et al. 2013). This write-up will analyze the attitude of the employees and the job satisfaction of the employees. The importance of motivation in the organization will also be studied. The write-up evaluates the importance of motivation that will help the managers in the organization to decide the way, the employees should be motivated and the type of motivation that should be implemented in the organization. In addition to this, the limitations of job satisfaction and motivation will also be evaluated so that factors are analyzed properly. This will help the readers to understand the proper way of managing the employees and make the organization successful in the competitive market. Analysis The attitude of the employees towards the work speaks a lot about the way they will work in the organization or will succeed on a long run (Braun et al. 2013). Attitude can be divided into three components while an employee is working in an organization, they are: Cognitive component Affective component Behavioral component An individual should know the components of attitude towards work to realize the development of attitude towards work (Fortney et al. 2013). When an individual enters an organization, the person holds a certain belief towards the organization. This kind of belief is instilled in the person both through the ex-employees, word of mouth and through online research. The pre-assigned thoughts are called the cognitive component (Milln et al. 2013). The affective component is the emotional connection of the employee towards the organization and the feeling of an individual towards work (Oliver 2014). It mainly deals with the emotional side of the employee. Behavioral component develops in the final stage (Imran et al. 2014). The employee understands the nature of work and the nature of the co-employees at the workplace and eventually develops the behavioral components (Abbas et al. 2014). The study of the attitude towards job satisfaction is important because it will help the mangers to understand the perspective of the employees towards the work. The managers should know the components of the attitude well so that they are able to evaluate the areas that need upliftment so that the employees work well in the organization (Card et al. 2012). Even if the employees are demotivated then also the attitude comes to play. For an organization to make use of the attitudes of the employees, it should know the types of attitudes. The types of attitudes are: Job satisfaction The positive or the negative feeling of an individual towards the organization and the work culture of the organization decides the job satisfaction of the employees in the organization (Collie, Shapka and Perry 2012). Job involvement The employees should be able to identify themselves with the type of job they are doing and will get involved in the job and prove fruitful for the organization (Edmans 2012). Organizational commitment The employees should be able to know the goals of the organization and should be able to understand the expected results to achieve the goal (Hlsheger et al. 2013). The employees will then remain committed to the organization. Perceived organizational support (POS) Every employee needs a special attention from the employer. Once the employees will feel that the organization is taking care of them, their attitude towards the job and the workplace will change (Braun et al. 2013). Employee engagement Once the employees will be satisfied working with the organization, they will work enthusiastically for the organization, it will help in the enhancement of the employee engagement within the organization (Fortney et al. 2013). After gaining knowledge about the types of attitudes, the managers can help the organization to function competitively in the external market (Milln et al. 2013). The component will help them to understand the way the employees should be treated depending upon their stay in the organization. The types of attitudes will help the managers to understand the type that they want to see among the employees (Oliver 2014). Depending in the type of attitude, the practices will be introduced in the workplace so that the employees will be satisfied with the job (Imran et al. 2014). Limitations of job satisfaction Once the employees are satisfied in the job, they seldom tend to disturb the equilibrium factor that they have attained in the organization (Abbas et al. 2014). At times, the employees either do not want to change the job nor they want to take up any challenge in the organization. The problems of job satisfaction harm the employees as well as the organization (Card et al. 2012). At times, the employees are not ready to take up challenges in the organization. The managers in the organization will have a tough time innovating new business and spreading the business (Collie, Shapka and Perry 2012). If the employees do not have the interest in changing the job, their career will become stagnant. There are other limitations for job satisfaction as well. If any of the employees does not like the job and is working in the company because of lack of options then the factor of job satisfaction will not be applied in this case (Edmans 2012). However, it is up to choice of the employee to select the job. Many times, an individual joins a job just because he or she is not getting another job. If the environment of the workplace is good, chances are there that the employees will stay in the organization and work diligently (Hlsheger et al. 2013). However, negative chances are there as well. The employee may never develop the liking for the workplace and will even if the managers try hard, the employee will never be satisfied with the job. The employee will not be satisfied even if the person is provided with the good environment and good people to work with (Braun et al. 2013). On the other hand, motivation is one of the most important factors that drive the employees in performing well in the organization. It is important for the employees to know the two types of motivations because the managers have to decide which type of motivation will be helpful for the organization (Fortney et al. 2013). The two types of motivation available to the managers are: Extrinsic motivation The extrinsic motivation is in the form of financial motivation (Erez, Kleinbeck and Thierry 2012). The employees should be given the benefits and the bonus on regular basis. The employees should get the payment in time and leaves should be given to the employees properly. If any of the employees is doing any extra work that is beneficial for the organization then the employee should be given the rewards either in the form of money or in any other form of rewards (Kanfer, Beier and Ackerman 2013). In this way, it will keep up the motivation of the workers and eventually help the organization to grow. Intrinsic motivation The direct boss of the employees or the leader of a team can provide intrinsic motivation (Barrick, Mount and Li 2013). Intrinsic motivation does not involve money but the reward is given in the form of recognition. If any of the employees is performing well in the organization, the employer should recognize the work (Tannenbaum 2013). The employees should be roped in for the decision-making process in the organization. The recognition and the roles will help them in building the intrinsic motivation (Pinder 2014). Hence, the employees will work harder for the organization. The manager needs to know the form of motivations to decide the time when the motivations will be applied on the employees (Reeve 2014). It might happen that not all the employees could be influenced by one type of motivation (Haslam et al. 2014). Hence, the manager should be able to understand the employees and then decide the type of motivation that will help the employees to work harder for the organization. Motivational theory The experts help the managers in an organization to understand the types of motivation that is required by the employees introduces the motivational theories. The Hawthorne effect is one such theory that helps in the development of the individual and in turn helps in increasing the productivity of the organization (Pinder 2014). Henry A. Landsberger is the first person who understood that the workers in an organization work in a better manner when they know that they are being observed by a senior authority (Reeve 2014). The efficiency level enhances when they know that they will be rewarded for the work. The Hawthorne effect got its name when some of the social experiments that was done in the Western Electrics Factory at Hawthorne located in Chicago during the 1920s-1930s. The experiment was done to see the effect of physical conditions on the productivity of the employees. To carry out the experiment, the managers enhanced a number of psychical conditions like making the workplace bright, changing in the working hours, giving breaks in between works and enhanced the plan of the leaves. The result was more motivated employees as they felt that the organization is taking care of them and their well-being in the organization. The researcher conclude that the employees will become more motivated at work once they will see that they are been looked after rather than actual enhancement of their health individually (Haslam et al. 2014). The managers should make use of the Hawthorne effect in the organization for better productivity. The managers should not keep a constant check on the work of the employees because that might make the employees uneasy (Ford 2014). The productivity may decrease as they will be in constant fear that they are being watched. However, periodic follow up to the employees and their performance will help the employees to keep a check on their work process (Kanfer, Chen and Pritchard 2012). Getting an idea about the problems faced by the employees in the organization and taking measures to solve those problems will enhance the interest of the employees towards their work (Schunk and Zimmerman 2012). Limitations of motivation There are certain limitations when the managers will have to apply the motivations on the employees. As far as the intrinsic motivation is concerned, it will take a long time for the managers to implement them for the employees (Kanfer, Chen and Pritchard 2012). If any of the organization is looking for a fast change or want to implement a new idea in the organization, then the intrinsic motivation will not help the organization (Schunk and Zimmerman 2012). The employees will take time to understand that they are being treated well in the organization and then they will be motivated and work accordingly (Erez, Kleinbeck and Thierry 2012). As far as the extrinsic motivation is concerned, it is mainly in the monetary rewards. There is chance that then employees will mainly assume the rewards as their goal and will work accordingly (Kanfer, Beier and Ackerman 2013). There is a chance that once the rewards will be stopped that employees will also stop working (Barrick, Mount and Li 2013). The employees will not work for the organization but they will work just because the organization is paying the employees for the work (Tannenbaum 2013). This kind of motivation might be short-lived and might not help the organization for a long-term support. Conclusion After evaluating the importance of attitude in job satisfaction, it can be concluded that the job satisfaction mainly depends on the managers of an organization so that the employees are satisfied to work in the organization. It can also be concluded that the employees need to motivated so that they work happily in the organization. However, it is up to the managers to decide the type of motivation that should be provided to the employees. However, the job satisfaction and the motivations have their own limitations. On the one hand, the job satisfaction at times make the employees lethargic as they are not ready to go way from the job that they are enjoying. Lethargy at work affects the organization as well as the person who has the satisfaction in the job. On the other hand, the extrinsic motivation at times, takes the attentions of the employee away from the job as they concentrate only on the rewards. The intrinsic motivation takes time to get implemented in the organization. Thus , the managers of the organization need to implement the actions in the organization carefully so that the organization would not have to suffer any loss. The employees should also be made to understand that they should not take any situation as granted and work ardently for the enhancement of the organization. Therefore, now it is the time for them to use other tools like billboards, banner ads or posters at the public places to maximize contact with customers. ?Increasing advertising on the internet: as the internet is so popular now and more and more people spend much of their time surfing the internet, Red Bull also needs to popularise their brand through some activities on the internet like creating some extreme games online and advertising on appropriate websites which are quite familiar with students and business people in different countries.
